I understood every single thing that was happening in your video, can't say that for the Luffy and boro breath bit.

By over the top I didnt mean the expression of Luffy obviously, but the animation being too flashy, the weird angles making it hard to understand what was happening on screen. I thought it was obvious in context
Bro, it was very easy to tell what was going on. It was definitely over the top, but it was by the far the best sequence in the whole episode for how dedicated it was to the cartoon logic.

There are plenty and plenty of shots that occur throughout that cut which serve to establish what actions are taking place and how they are taking place.

The episode definitely had some flaws to it, but I think it nailed its portrayal of gear 5th. This is exactly the sort of shit I wanted to see from the form and more in terms of its movement and general vibe.

It looks like 1072 is going to be able to maintain and maybe even exceed this episode.

Well they tried. It's not easy to do American cartoons especially with only a couple months of effort. Still I thinknit will age well. The animation just needs to be more fluid. And to think it's the last arc they're doing that stupid live action series and animating wano. Fumigation must be getting federal grants at this point.

Luffy used his awakening to turn the ground into rubber and bounce back the boro breath, what's so hard to understand. :quest:
The lack of wide shots during the scene was what made it so hard to understand. It wasn't even clear what Luffy was even grabbing. Was it the ground ? A rock ? At one point it looked like he went through it then bounced on it but actually no he stretched the ground ? Then it looks like Luffy is trying to pull something in his direction but actually it was in Kaido's direction ?
The scene just didn't flow well imo, changing the angle constantly, zooming then unzooming... It would have been easier to understand had they just shown Luffy grabbing the ground and sending Kaido's attack all from the same angle instead of whatever they were going for.

I found the Luffy muscle scene to be the best of the episode. It got the cartoon vibe perfectly and you could tell what was going on the whole time. I hope to see more of that in 1072

Not gonna lie, I'm disappointed. The adaptation of gear 5 is great, the animation, the sound effects, all of that is pretty much perfect(though I think him sending the blast breath back was animated in a really confusing way) but holy shit, the directing for the episode as a whole was ass, a BUNCH of reusing animations right from the get go and done back to back, stretching the Hyori part, wich was already a bore in the chapter, and shoving 2 flashbacks near the end that were complete useless filler. Its one of the most important moments in the series, but the episode itself loses to all the other hyped up ones like Sanji vs Queen, Zoro vs King and Law+Kid vs Big mom. And before anyone says it I wasnt expecting a lot of fighting, I do remember that the chapter didnt have that, but there are other ways to stretch an episode this important besides copying and pasting shit over and over. I'm giving this a 3, the episode itself is a 3.5-4 because despite my previous criticisms I really did like the gear 5 adaptation, but the fact that Toei hyped this so much, as if this would be the peak of the arc, only to deliver something that couldnt even match previous episodes drags it down a LOT to me:okay:

There's probably going to be a 1015 into 1017 type situation where one of these episodes is going to literally only be fighting and it's gonna end up the best animated episode in the series like 1017 was
