This is something Polar would do as town and essentially vanilla. Its very low hanging fruit. I think you had good intentions finding it and that doing so when you did is more indicative of town, but I can also see where others including Polar thinks that makes you scum as well

the only problem i have with this is that t-pein was close to being lynched dp1, he shouldve been very aware that he couldve died dp2 too
