I don't know man, both Sarquiss and Who's who call strowhats as rats, both have similar height, chin and lips both have been seen with sword and if you read the theory you'll see a connection.

Since I'm a fan of good storywriting ... yes, it was indeed very disappointing to see Oda fail once again with a supposed death scene.

I've called it way back then already though. At this point we just have to accept One Piece for what it is. A nice shonen story with very little consequences or dark scenes.

I think Oda does that with side characters to make us believe that no one dies in One Piece, and then he hits us with Ace's death

This scene has the making of general stupidity around this war. Shit like Kanjuro escaping with Momo among a sea of high tier fighters. If Kyoshiro doesn't kill Sasaki it will be even stupider than that.

If this happens then I will stop giving a shit about any fights except Zoro's this arc. Until Zoro also leaves someone alive right in the middle of the war when he could easily kill them and then i'll give up on him too

Ace & WB are literally the only two confirmed on-screen deaths in One Piece (outside of flashbacks).

In 970+ chapters.

This qualifies as "basically no consequences".

Look, I don't want to sound repetitive, but HxH is also published in Shonen Jump. There are a shitton of very dark scenes and cruel murders depicted in it. The last two arcs of it are basically seinen.

If Oda wanted to, he could go a more mature/darker road. Jump would allow it. He simply doesn't want to and we have to accept that.
