She used Her devil fruit since she had the flame armament haki pattern which is only shown when someone combined their devil fruit with there haki. Just like Luffy using Gear 4 with rubberized haki and Katakuri using sticky mochi with stickybamrmament haki.

So luffy with no advcoa who wouldve greatly hurt sanji without the suit suddenly does far less or no dmg( just for the sake of my example), advcoa would be able to still do the same amount of dmg he wouldve done as if sanji was naked. Thats what i mean. Advcoa is basically armor pen. Against squishier targets with no armor on them already it doesnt do much.

Raw ap is better against non armored targets

Advcoa(armor pen) allows your raw ap to still deal damage to armored targets.

If I recall correctly, Vergo's armament was compared to that of Luffy and Katakuri (I think to these two) with regards to his "expanding bamboo" technique, so there's the possibility that the flame pattern is related to merging the armament to the material it is applied to. In this case, Big Mom may have intended to combine her haki with the hardness of her skin.

You continue to ingnore what I wrote, there are 2 levels to Advanced Armament Haki, both increase damage, and one of them is also used as a defense shield.

In the context of penetrating defenses, its litterally there mate. The ability to '' enter your enemy. Luffy wanted to increase his ap to still deal dmg internally, then hyogoro told him that if his goal was to beat the scales armor pen or coa is far more powerful for that goal.

I didnt ignore it i just saw it now, and i remember it yes. Context of the discussion matters, the night before he told hyogoro hes learning a way to penetrate kaidos scales with n2, the barrier one as it would increase his blunt dmg greatly. Meaning it should in theory allow some dmg to go through but after seing luffy use n3 which is armor pen, hyogoro told him this one is more powerful in context of what he is trying to achieve.
