Shanks specifically asked something AFTER Roger came back from Laughtale. It's implied that it was related to what they learnt in laughtale. Or potentially even why Roger's health was failing.
Roger and co already knew the atrocities of celestial dragons before hand. I think they would have told him a lot sooner.
