Oda had already decided to turn Kid into the next Whitebeard, when he named him.



Oda didn't change his mind. He revealed the backstories of the two not so long ago and they have alot in common.
Kid grew up on an island not affiliated with the WG. He had to learn to fight young.



Whitebeard grew up on Sphinx Island, also not part of the WG, causing similar problems



We now know that the Celestial Dragons exterminate people from such islands every 3 years. No wonder that Whitebeard went with Rocks to God Valley.

Kid hates Celestial Dragons too:



When Blackbeard attacks World Nobles, just like Rocks did, Kid will be with him. They will also go after one specific CD together: Shanks.

He doesn't hate CDs, he just thinks and knows that they are scums like basically anybody else in the verse.
Kidd also doesn't have the strength to play a role that big. BB would just kill him and steal his df anyway.

Who would he give the DF to? Apart from Lafitte, we know that all his Captains have one already. Kill a willing ally, who has awakened it, to give it to some scrub?

He was about to kill Law though who is stronger than Kidd. He doesn't need Kidd.
Besides he can take it for himself, we don't know what's the limit of df he can eat.

Law's DF is a special case. Worth 5 billion, could give BB eternal life. Kid's DF can't benefit BB in that way.

Smoker bullied a pre skip luffy who couldn't even touch him

Koby is known has a hero just like Garp, Koby has a strong bond with Luffy just like Garp had with Roger

My main point is Kidd's strength. He can't help BB vs Shanks since he is one shot material.
I don't believe in these "character B" is the "character A" of this era.
Kidd is his own character. Some people have been trying to tie Kidd and Law to some characters of a past era. I don't understand why. They go through their own journey.
Kidd met his end as an ambitious pirate vs Shanks, if he comes back, it will be as Luffy's ally. That is if he comes back as a pirate, he might just become a farmer in Elbaf and live a peaceful life.
