Yamato was a plot device to tell us this that’s it.

he could have done it with Shanks or Reighley.
he didn't let a character like Caribou know about Luffy's dream, and he decided to clarify this in the SBS, because it is an important thing, & you tell me that Yamato knew about only to show us that Luffy & Roger have the same dream!!

he didn't let a character like Caribou know about Luffy's dream, and he decided to clarify this in the SBS, because it is an important thing, & you tell me that Yamato knew about only to show us that Luffy & Roger have the same dream!!

Shanks and Rayleigh weren’t in Wano when oda introduced Rogers dream.

And yeah Yamato only knows about it to for plot convenience so he can tell the readers Luffy and Roger share a dream.
