It wasnt just Oda. It was a plethora of mangaka that welcomed him back. Whats weird is how Oda got singled out here and not Kishimoto and like 15 other Authors:
that is truth a lot of grown up fell excited by kids but will simply hide it . I think its because kids are more vulnerable and naive and it excite them as a father I watch for those things a lot .

These battle manga shonen writers are weirdos who dont mind to sexualise kids. No wonder why their stories end up bad in final arcs
What's the problem? Just have someone else draw! I mean, if you take sports for example the athletes often hang up their boots around age 35-40 when their bodies can't cope anymore. No shame in that. They can still contribute as coaches/managers, they don't actively need to run on the field.
