You're just too young. Society was different back then. Rape jokes were commonplace even until a few years ago. The same comedians who made rape jokes 20 years ago pretend to be goody-two-shoes today and virtue signal other people. Nothing but fake people in this world.

I mean rape/pedophilia jokes are still common.
I remember a John Mulaney skit where he and a woman were walking at the new york subway alone at night. The woman got scared with him walking behind her so she started running, and then John thought she was running because she heard the subway coming so he chased after her. Then the woman took a wrong turn toward a dead end, and she was cornered by John so she started putting up a defensive stance where she looked like she was ready to fight. And then John realized that she thought he was going to rape her when it was really just a big misunderstanding

You can 100% still make jokes about edgy subject matter and literally no one will bat an eye. It just matters how you present it.
