He isnt, everything before, now and in the future is tied to nika, oda is doing exactly what kishimoto did in naruto on a much bigger scale.

The Nika thing. Atleast Ichigo was hinted to be something like that. But luffy already had like a ton of super special circumstances. Oda didn't need to do this, and especially this fat into the series and this close to the end. He layed a massive L right at the finish line smh
