The thing is that what we arr getting from the other characters isn't much to write home about. There isn't much to Kuma outside of being a good guy that got shit on for his entire life, the revelation of Kizaru being friends with Kuma, Bonney, and Vegapunk practically came to fruition last minute, and his relationship with Sentomaru, though it may have been established before the Timeskip, is rather lacking in detail. Bonney herself doesn't have much of a character as well. It doesn't help that Oda is trying to hamfist the Nika shit into the characterization of these characters to make up for it's previous non-existent place in the story as it's a retcon in nature, which makes quite a few scenes in the Pre-TS with some of these characters rather confusing.
And as you said, the Straw Hats basically being put in the background doesn't help, especially when their dreams aren't treated with the respect nor attention they deserve.

As far as I see it nothing really unexpected or outrageous happened.
An enraged Kuma lands a hit on Saturn, Saturn flies away but then gets up quickly and regenerates, Sanji and Franky get a hit in (none of those affect Saturn) and Kizaru stands up trying to challenge the SHs.
Can anyone explain to me how such small events turned into a childish powerscaling war again?

Every fandom have gone through this, by the time naruto/sasuke become kage level there was alot of toxic argument with itachi and sannin fans not wanting to admit they were surpassed. naruto and sasuke then grew even stronger to the point it was no longer debatable. Same way luffy/zoro will get so strong to the point any attempt at downplaying will be retarded and ban worthy.

Luffy not only 1 shotted a admiral and recovered faster and now going to solo a fleet, so ofc current Luffy is too much for fodder like Loro.
