Onepiece chapter 1140 : Scopper Gaban


Chapter starts with imformation on Gaban and how he is good at what seems to be an akido fighting style incorporating kicks as well. He is capable of handling most weaponary with his speciality being Axes. However he has always refused using swords as he notes that Rayleigh is the one that perfected fighting with a sword and that he won't be as gifted as Rayleigh in that regard. He mentions to luffy that even though he was below rodger and Rayleigh, he was also not one to be trifled with, after all he was still the left hand of the pirate king rodger.

Upon hearing this luffy is shocked and laughs stating that old man ray would talk about gaban and the rodger pirates as he was training luffy during those two years. Luffy remarked that rayleigh had stated that in all of their confrontations gaban not once defeated Rayleigh which irritates Gaban with Gaban remarking "that atleastbhe was always close. Scene shifts.The fight starts off with gaban using his speed and mobility to dodge and redirect luffys punches back at him. He also uses a version of life return (more similar to Laio-G's ability to return his prime strength back to himself) to enhance his physicality including speed.

Gaban this chapter also seems to be very good at coO (showing what seems to be a use of future sight) and has internal destruction ryo punches that he calls his "Love Language attacks". Gaban is playing a Game of tag/keep away with luffy. If luffy grabs the key within 30 mins from gaban, luffy wins. However if gaban manages to hold onto the key for 30 mins, the strawhats must leave the island of elbaf and forget about freeing loki.

Luffy agrees to the challenge. Luffy counters gaban with his own future sight and Ryo attacks and pushes himself in speed using g2.

However gaban is also alot like usoop (which luffy states) in terms of gaban having access to calculated traps and capture tools to slow luffy down. Gaban is a jack of all trades type of fighter. He has great hand to hand combat, can uses multi weaponary, has advanced coO and coA and has full control of his body and it's usage. However gaban took pride is his ability to be the MASTER of something and that's his usage of his dual weiding AXES.

While being chased gaban ties the key on his back and takes out his two renowned AXES (that also happen to be Supreme grade blades lol).

In retaliation luffy goes full G4. Gaban throws his Axes at luffy, and luffy dodges. Zoro watching the fight remarks on how gaban threw the weapons that were the best suited to harm luffy and states that he is at a disadvantage.

Gaban upon hearing this laughs at zoros remarks. Gaban then uses "Magentism" to retract his Axes back into his hands, stating that love always attracts!!!!

CHAPTER ENDS WITH LUFFY IN SHOOK OF WHAT HE JUSTVWITNESS GABAN DO. STATING "THATS KIDDS ABILITY"!!!!!!!

I am not that strong of a believer of the whole "Garling will want to usurp Imu" thing but seeing his son get his ass kicked after he has to report his failures could be the seed for that.

I am not sure about Imu, but it doesn't seem like the Gorosei are on the best of terms with Garling. They were also not at the execution of Doffys uncle

The fact that you think Oda would ever spend that much time elaborating on the minuscule inscrutable details of the fighting style of a minor character as opposed to just progressing the plot just shows that you read too much trash like JJK where there is no plot and only technical explanations of combat styles

Even now as the soulless puppeteered corpse that he currently is, Oda has never wasted time delving this deep into the technicalities of a fighting style lol.
