So, does the lightning come from Loki's hammer or not? The spoiler makes it seem as if Loki is just hitting the tree with it, and the tree shaking attracts the lightning strike. Tall trees are generally more prone to lightning strikes anyway. If that's the case, then Loki and/or Ragnir's DF is still a mystery.

I too don't understand It very well, but:

1) I don't think it's a mere coincidence;

2) Hammer and lightnings are a clear reference to Mjolnir.

So It's the hammer, even though the "how" is strange.
