If there's one moment I liked about Oden as a character was when he was broken down completely
But you need to understand Oda...
If Oden vs Kaido would take more screentime, he would have less time to draw Gifters and fodders...
God Wano is truly a disaster..
I enjoyed other arcs far more post timeskip.
Hope Oda never gonna put so many characters in one arc.
So true man, Oda said he hates drawing fights especially past 1 chapter for them so no wonder he gave luffy such a goofy powerup too.
He probably hates that the explosion of one pieces popularity and it's unanimously most loved arcs are enies Lobby and Marineford with how serious, dramatic, edgy, combat focused etc they are. All tension.
Completely agree man, one of the biggest letdown in the series. It doesn't make sense with how much Oda glazed Oden to the extreme to give him mere breadcrumbs of a fight with Kaido at best and the worst possible resolution for it too.
Kaido could have just gone hybrid and beaten him fairly or even awakened and then defeat him.
Oda put more effort into Oden being boiled-fried alive than this. His priorities are extremely messed up.

The skies over Udon burned, crimson and gold streaking the heavens like the gods themselves watched in horror. The earth beneath them cracked and trembled, unable to withstand the clash of titans.
Oden stood defiant.
Kaido stood enraged.
Blood dripped from both warriors, the battlefield littered with the dead—samurai and Beast Pirates alike. The air was thick with smoke, steel, and fury.
Kaido rolled his shoulders, his kanabo still crackling with black lightning. His golden eyes locked onto Oden.
“You’re still standing?” Kaido snarled, his voice rough, guttural, like a dragon pushed past its limits.
Oden grinned, his chest rising and falling, blood leaking from dozens of wounds.
“Still strong enough… to cut you down.”
Kaido exhaled slowly, then clenched his kanabo, the spiked weapon surging with Conqueror’s Haki.
"Then I'll break you."
THE CLASH BEGINS
Kaido lunged forward, kanabo raised high.
"BAGUA NO GOKUI!!!" (Supremacy of the Trigrams)
The club came down like the hammer of a vengeful god, the sheer force ripping the air apart as it descended.
Oden thrust both swords upward, black lightning exploding upon impact.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The collision tore the ground asunder, the battlefield splitting apart like a continent breaking.
Oden gritted his teeth, his arms straining, but he refused to give an inch.
Then, with a feral roar, he pushed back, his blades carving through the storm of force.
"ODEN TWO-SWORD STYLE: SHINRA GIRI!!!" (Divine Spiral Cut)
Oden’s swords twisted like a cyclone, unleashing a series of razor-sharp slashes, each one infused with Conqueror’s Haki.
Blood sprayed.
Kaido’s chest split open, the deepest wound he’d suffered in years.
The Beast Pirates gasped in horror.
Kaido stumbled, his hand gripping the deep gash in his chest. He gritted his fangs, panting heavily.
Oden smirked. “You’re slowing down, Beast.”
Kaido’s golden eyes darkened. His breathing grew ragged, his entire body trembling.
Then—Kaido screamed.
KAIDO'S AWAKENING – THE BEAST UNCHAINED
The heavens themselves cracked open, the winds howling in response to Kaido’s fury.
Kaido’s massive frame contorted, muscles bulging grotesquely, his scales blackening as they pulsed with feral rage. His teeth grew jagged, his claws elongated, and his kanabo swirled with dark lightning and hellfire.
This wasn’t just power.
This was a monster unbound.
“You… CUT ME…” Kaido snarled, his voice a deep, abyssal growl.
His kanabo dragged along the ground, leaving a trail of fire and destruction as he took a step forward.
Then—he vanished.
Oden barely had time to react before—
"SHIN RAGNARÖK!!!" (True End of the Gods)
Kaido’s kanabo smashed into Oden’s chest, sending him rocketing across the battlefield.
BOOM!!!
Oden crashed through boulders, the earth erupting from the sheer force of impact.
He coughed blood, his ribs shattered, but he forced himself back up.
Kaido was already charging forward, a whirlwind of destruction.
"RYUJIN NO HOROBI!!!" (Dragon God's Destruction)
Kaido slammed his claw into the ground, sending a massive shockwave of haki-infused force surging toward Oden.
Oden leapt high, spinning his blades.
"NITTORYU: KAZAN NO MAI!!!" (Two-Sword Style: Volcano Dance)
His blades ignited with haki, slashing through the incoming shockwave, splitting it in half.
But Kaido was already above him.
"HOURAI KUZURE!!!" (Collapse of the Celestial Mountain)
Kaido’s kanabo came down again, this time like a meteor crashing from the heavens.
CRACK!!!
Oden barely blocked, but the sheer force drove him into the earth, creating a massive crater.
His arms shook. His vision blurred.
Kaido snarled, drool and blood dripping from his fangs.
“You should have joined me, Oden. You should have knelt.”
Oden grinned through bloody teeth.
“I kneel to no one.”
With a mighty war cry, he rose once more, his swords burning with everything he had left.
"TOGEN TOTSUKA!!!" (Peach-Colored Decapitation)
Oden lunged forward, his blades cutting through the air with divine fury.
Kaido gritted his teeth.
Then—
He swung.
"HAGUN NO RAN!!!" (War of the Conquering Gods)
Kaido’s kanabo and Oden’s swords collided.
The world trembled.
The entire battlefield erupted in a cataclysmic explosion of haki, a shockwave so powerful it flattened trees miles away.
For a moment—there was only silence.
Then—
Oden staggered back, his swords slipping from his fingers.
His chest caved in, blood gushing from the brutal impact.
Kaido wobbled, his wound deep, his body barely holding together.
But—he still stood.
Oden fell to one knee.
Kaido loomed over him, kanabo in hand.
"You fought well," Kaido muttered, panting.
"But this is my era."
Oden, barely clinging to life, smiled.
"Wano… will never be yours."
Kaido's snarl twisted into something monstrous.
He lifted his kanabo high.
"THEN DIE, ODEN!!!"
The final blow fell.
And the light in Oden’s eyes faded into darkness.
