Since he's too strong for the arc your first thought is he has to die. That's why Gaban kid has been kidnapped, to handicap Gaban involvement during the arc.
Gaban also asked Luffy/Zoro to meet him afterwards, and you think he's dying in this fight? No. All of HKs are prob gonna get summoned in Elbaf, or they gonna run away from Eblaf temporarily.
As the #3 of the Roger Pirates (not counting Oden) he is of course bound to be strong. 1.5-3B depending on how Oda wants to play it but likely around that 2.0-2.5 range.
He is however 80 years old, has been inactive for 25 years and has likely aged to a physical age of 120 or something due to Elbafs effect. We've seen Gan Fall, Riku, Garp, WB, Rayleigh, Chinjao, Lao G, Hyogoro and so on all struggle due to age. They can all show skills in short spurts but the stamina is not there anymore.
But yeah, Oda doesn't like to kill off characters. However I believe if he has to do it why not an old legend whose time has passed anyways? Gaban could just say "I was supposed to die 15 years ago due to old age. But the power of love kept me alive until this moment" and then do something incredibly cool taking down 2-3 Holy Knights along himself. Change of location, WG/Akainu muttering about how even the Roger pirates are coming out from their hiding supporting the Mugiwara.
Admirals for a long time were heavily downplayed, so it's not surprising that Admiral fans can now fight back especially with the way Oda showcased two of the Yonko's and how he has portrayed the Admirals.
Some didn't have any problem with the way people were hyping up the Yonko's as God tier, but for some reason there is a problem with Admiral fans hyping up the Admirals.
And that downplaying went on for ten + years and was paired with much more extreme take, like YC1 ~ Admirals or 1000 Luffy > Admirlas, 1010 Luffy > Admirals and basically every character possibile, Saturn included.
Not in the sense that the Admirals do. The Admirals are the ones that are usually sent after anyone that threatens the CDs. The Holy Knights seem to do something different most of the time
I think Gunko is the only one who will be fully defeated as she's the one who arrives here using nearby ship (same as Saturn). So she's the only one who's physically here.
Sommers and Bellingham were summoned using the abyss so at best they will get sent back to Marijoana (like the other 4 Gorosei)
Could be wrong tbh

TBH Saturn was the most fleshed out among the Gorosei and he gets BTFO'ed at the end of the arc so the reason Oda is focusing so much on Gunko right now could be because he knows she's gonna get defeated
Readings other manga and op, you could easily tell op is in slow motion
This chapter feels like barley anything happens.
The hard hitters like the monster trio, loki etc were still just chilling, for how long??
All while chaos was happening around on the other side.
And we're to finally get Gaban in action as a cliffhanger and fking break week( we aren't even sure it will be Gaban focus in next chapter, instead we get back to some other plot)
Sure op has more stories, plot and mystery that's why it's longer than other series, but Oda sure is heavily responsible for the extra long stories. If he writes bleach, Naruto with same plot, it could end in 100+ longer chapter

I think they mentioned nearby ship so my guess is they arrived near Elbalf on a ship then used the Abyss to land on the island (just like Saturn did)
