I think there’s a lot of set up with PoL existing with the buccaneers.

When Vegapunk asks why Kuma is fighting for Bonney despite being brain dead he literally goes “it must be ‘love’ the power of the bucaneers!”

That also would explain why the WG genocided the buccaneers so hard, since they can naturally counter regen of the elite CDs @Sir Yasheen
