1. The fact that Ryokugyu is like 15-20 years younger than the other admirals is important to Oda. I would actually say this explains a lot of his characterization like his dramatic reactions.
Literally exactly as I predicted. Lol

2. There is a lot more to the character than meets the eye. He probably has a backstory that we’ll get at some point.
He already foreshadowed this with the tattoo and that one interview. If yall think Green Bull isn’t getting redeemed to defeat Ju Peter in the end, then you still have yet to realize the predictive genius of Lee.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that Greenbull is basically the same age as Shanks/Shamrock ?

How would you feel if Oda tied his backstory to the Figarlands?

“A young admiral shrouded in mystery.”

This tells us a couple things:

1. The fact that Ryokugyu is like 15-20 years younger than the other admirals is important to Oda. I would actually say this explains a lot of his characterization like his dramatic reactions.

2. There is a lot more to the character than meets the eye. He probably has a backstory that we’ll get at some point.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a flashback. Oda refered to his past twice in SBS but the two times stayed extremely vague about a certain event involving a woman.
Greenbull being called the young admoral is the most interesting. As you said It suggests that in Oda's mind he's mean to be more immature than his peers, which explains his behavior quite a lot

Like do I think he is related to them? No lol, but I definitely think they have some kind of encounter in the future with Green Bull stating that he wants to fight them later. I guess there could be something deeper but I always just thought Green Bull was like Akainu in that he wanted to eliminate the old power balance with the old Yonko.

Indifferent lol. See I basically think Oda has already told us everything we need to know about Green Bull’s backstory. I guess he could show more later but I really don’t see he and Fuji’s backstories being super relevant.

I wonder if Ryokugyu has some history with the CDs/holy knights. He’s also basically the same age as Shamrock.

I still think the idea that Ryokugyu eventually replaces some defeated Holy Knights (like say Qillingham/Sommers/Gunko get Saturn’d at the end of Elbaf) is plausible and would be thematic with Issho eventually betraying the WG.

Hence I wonder if there’s been some groundwork laid out with a Shamrock connection…

I think I am the only Admiral fan who likes the idea of Green Bull becoming a Holy Knight lol.

I could see his future role going 1 of 2 ways:

1. He is a dark Parrallel to Akainu, Akainu gets promoted from Admiral but slowly becomes disillusioned with the WG, Green Bull gets promoted from Admiral and becomes even more of an absolute madman to show what Akainu almost became

2. Green Bull rebels and defeats Ju Peter once the Great Cleansing begins (this is how I think his arc is going). Already during Reverie Oda began to plant the seeds of conflict between Green Bull and the Celestial Dragons, him rebelling could become the end-point of that story.

Like I said I prefer option 2 but I could see either path.
