Onigashima was the most unpredictable predictable shit odas ever written tbh. Oda did every stupid thing possible just to get back to his basic formula making half of the entire war feeling incredibly pointless.

The SHs will surpass the roger pirates, that's a given.
But the Rocks pirates are the strongest crew (maybe not stronger than joyboy's? who knows). The key difference is that the SHs pirates aren't unstable as Rocks, so they surpass them in this regard.

In the Ace novel, it was stated that Roger, Whitebeard, Shiki, and Big Mom were the rulers of the New World in the previous era.
That makes me think Big Mom wasn't in her prime during Onigashima.

No, I'm not talking about the miraculous medicine working like a senzu bean. I just knew Zoro vs King would happen no matter what, but I thought King would simply show up on the roof later for the fight. Sanji/Marco being his opponent was always a nonsensical take imo.

Didn't seem "easy" at the time. I was constantly being shat on by Zoro fanbase because they were so obsessed with ZKK that no one had the right to claim King would eventually be his opponent lmao.

Godvalley happened 39 years ago. I think going by oda's usual age for legends to die, Rocks would have been around 55-60 years in godvalley. Roger died at 53. Wb at 68. Koido at 59, meme 69 etc.

So, 56 years ago, Rocks would be 35 years old at the very least. Which is pretty close to prime age by oda. He said wb at 38 was prime.

Shiki fought Garp 2 times actually, the second was in Marineford. Still can't take him down
Garp was said to have numerous battles against Roger, still can't take him down

Shiryu and Aokiji worked together and Garp was retired forever.
By feats, Shiryu and Aokiji already accomplished what Roger, WB, Shiki, Wangzhi, Meme etc could never do.

it’s simple storytelling, in order to have Luffy surpass the people before him he and his crew will surpass stronger characters
