I feel that Roger is currently just a victim of being the "middle link" between Joyboy and Luffy.
Hence why Oda has made him so much softer and goofier, to fit with the whole laughing liberator chosen one stuff.
IMO if Nika/Joyboy stuff wasn't a thing Roger would be more prominent and Oda would write him as less of a butt monkey.
I also think he'll definitely be very strong for sure since he's Shanks' parallel and Oda adores Shanks, just that he'll be less like WB (strong w/o being goofy) and more like Luffy (strong but also a clown).

If imu did come down to GV, i doubt she would have gone away with just killing Rocks. Someone must have desummoned her. Similar to how the gorosei got sent back. Since Roger is the pirate jesus reincarnation, it makes sense for him to do it like how soyboy's rope haki sent the gorosei back.

Roger will prove slightly superior but Imu will kill Xebec at the last minute. I feel like Roger has to win 1v1, it’s the only thing left to justify his hype. If Xebec proves superior then Roger will be a fraud relative to his 20-year buildup. Xebec should be the true pirate king of that era.
The Rocks crew hyping Roger up leads me to believe that they saw him beat Xebec though. This feat will undisputedly cement Roger as the top dog of his generation, he can “tie” (offscreen) 1000 times with Silver Axe within the next 13 years for all I care.

I mean that some fans believe it's absolutely impossible Oda would "disrespect" Roger by not having him solo Xebec.
Personally I'm 50/50. Yes Oda might have Roger finally live to his portrayal but on the other hand Oda might want to protect Teach's daddy as it will only make Luffy feat of defeating his son more impressive if it is 1 vs 1.
