IMO he's probably gonna be Gaban's GV matchup, they both use axes and have rivalry with a swordsman.

Interestingly enough I don't think Sanji's ever used an axe in a fight despite paralleling at least one person who has.

I'm not sure whether to be grateful or confused by that tbh.

It's good, not fond of overly forced parallels. Gaban might be Sanji equivalent in term of overall status but it doesn't mean they have to be actual clones on everything. Gaban is a navigator, Sanji is a cook. Gaban was fine going for the kill against Gunko while Sanji would die before hitting a woman. Sanju uses his legs to fight, Gaban uses axes to fight.

I agree with that, Sanji as an axeman would be lame. Not like Luffy/Roger or Zoro/Ray are 1:1 parallels anyways.

It is interesting to me that Oda chose to focus on Sanji paralleling Gaban's attitude/ideal and Zoro paralleling Ray's fighting style however.
