Is it so racist to discuss Casting of actors?
Don't be so facetious. You're showing complete ignorance and immaturity about this but I shouldn't say anything as clearly some staff here share the same "muh white genocide" viewpoints.

Yet they'll silently remove posts like the reddit mods they are.

Some users here are like Celestial Dragons in nature and with the same kind of grovelling protection from the staff here, it's pathetic.

Zoro is white skinned too but played by a Japanese guy.

You guys want to pretend you're not obsessed with race and that others are the snowflakes but as soon as the spotlight doesn't feature you only, the keyboard warrior behaviour begins.

Now watch them remove this post too and keep protecting the worst users here instead.

I'd call the moderation a circus but that would be insulting to Clowns.

You equating people defending the actress with these freaks is beyond disingenuous.
Classic Solis moment.

What's with people and reading comprehension recently ? Was I saying I'm EQUATING both groups?!
Casting directors making choices based on bias can be called out without hating the actress. Nowhere did I directly blame the actress.
We don’t know why she was cast over an Arab actress. Maybe she is just that good. But jumping to conclusions and saying it was because the casting director was racists makes no sense.

if your argument is that you would rather have an middle eastern/ North African actress play Vivi, then I think that is valid. But as of right now, you’re rage baiting other users and concern trolling over meaningless drivel.

White genocide bros are the most pathetic, small, insecure losers out there. and then they have the gall to complain about how women find them disgusting.

i don’t get the obsession with casting middle eastern roles as anything other than middle easterners

but anyway im not even gonna watch it pirated or not, i don’t the higher ups to get the money or the recognition after the studio higher ups signed a petition to rescind a palestinian’s emmy because it was a documentary about living in gaza and surviving a genocide

By the way before season 1 i wanted a faithful adaptation, and we got that. But now, after having watched it,i say "Ok,its faithful..but its also lame somehow?" :jay-he:
Like,it made me realize how goofy One Piece looks to Not One Piece Fans.
So now i like to imagine how would a One Piece live action be if it was made in a more realistic and dark style, maybe by HBO and not Netflix. Cutting all the most unrealistic and goofy stuff, altough still being a fantasy story about the Strawhats in the search for the One Piece.
Who knows, maybe in a distand future there will be a new One Piece live action movie or show with this different "take" or "twist". After all One Piece is an immortal franchise,so we will get many products, even after the manga ending.

I didnt watch this series i dont plan to watch it but i watched the trailer and Vivi looks good. I dont know what is your fantasy about characters color. Vivi being tanned makes sense i know you guys will complain when they make shandrias black too.
Again, taking the country accurate shit too seriously. Vivi is white in the series and should be white in real life. Making the shandorians black will not be accurate, why can’t people leave their own western slanted slop out on things that never needed it.

You realize you just debunked your own point right? Robin would canonically be Russian and yet she had tan skin at first.
Again.. Skin color means jack shit here, we know she's meant to be Egyptian (or at least something similar to that).
And she’s designed to be completely light-skinned. No hint of anything of her indentations. On top of vivi wrongly being brown, it looks ugly with the blue hair. She’s now an unattractive rebel girl from a Dem shithole city now

Msybe you were the problem

I don’t get the white vs brown talk honestly the people wanting her to be “white” are likely to be racist

the real issue here is casting yet another indians(actually two cobra also) as a middle eastern coded character which is a real problem 20 years ago i would have understood it the whole 9/11 thing everyone avoided middle easterners like the plague but in 2025? so if they got an egyptian/middle eastern actress i don’t think it would matter how pale she is at least that’s for me

I think Netflix could've released One Piece season 2 in the fall of 2025 but between Wednesday season 2 in August-September and Stranger Things' final season in November-December, One Piece would've gotten totally overshadowed. Pushing it back to early 2026 will give the show the spotlight it needs plus with season 3 filming later this year, that means there won't be another two year gap between seasons. If season 2 performs well next year, Netflix could give it an early season 4 renewal so by then the show will have an annualized release schedule which is incredibly important in the streaming era of television (season 2 in 2026, season 3 in 2027, season 4 in 2028).
