As i pointed out it makes even sense cause the arc starts with Road kidnapping the East Blue 5 + Chopper and he is obsessed with "idols".
I just dont see how competetion was about her without baiting from oda. The pirates are one thing but its implied imu personally erased GV and i dont think he gives a fuck about that (he seems exclusivly to be gooning for Vivi)
