While I think the revelation of Shakky being the impetus for a battle royale on GV is silly, the austerity of the incident can be salvaged if that coming together shows Garp the true evils of the CDs that he wasn't privy to and directly plays a hand in shutting down the genocide events going forward in exchange for his continued work for the Marines.

We have no proof that GV was the last of the genocide hunts, but we've never been led to believe or clued into the idea they continued to happen either. Garp demonstrating how strong he was to all of the Mary Geoise broadcast and fiercely demanding they cut that shit out if they want him still protecting them could do wonders for both Garp's character and the integrity of the GV incident. Won't get my hopes up though.

yeah, that would be great, but I think Garp being offered some nice steak to ignore the slave stuff is more likely
