ONE PIECE CHAPTER: 1157: The LEGENDARY BAR

I had to look up what "Otoko Wa Tsurai Yo" was. A 48-film long movie series about a bumbling traveling salesman trying to find love, known for having a different romantic interests each installment. I guess that might be why Oda brought in the Amazons into the arc. He's been thinking about ladies! Man, Japan has some long running series. No wonder One Piece is as long as it is.
On the cover page, Yamato pays respect at a grave. Huh. Yeah, given the size of that pole, I guess that COULD be the grave of Silver Axe Kyo, like some had been speculating. That grave marker could be Silver Axe's titular axe. Whoever it was for sure, they tried to defend the town against Kaido. Leaving no trace of his body behind makes me suspicious, though. And given that axe-wielding "knight" zombie back on Thriller Bark...well, I have to wonder if something else happened to that body.
The Rocks Pirates robbed the International Philanthropy Federation in the Foot Colony! Those fiends! They're literally stealing from hungry children! Unless the money actually mostly goes into the Celestial Dragon's pockets, and the charity is a scam! So...uh...I'm not sure if this is mark in the "good guys" or "bad guys" column. Maybe we just make like Whitebeard and not talk about this entire situation, right?
Also...Ochoku, Big Mom, and Shiki backstab Whitebeard, Silver Axe, and Kaido and try to blow them up with a bomb! Yeesh! We knew this crew didn't like each other, but even Zoro and Sanji would say they're going too far! Good thing Whitebeard got his Quake Fruit offscreen...somewhere. I really wish we had gotten to see that. Whitebeard and Kaido actually seem to be pretty good friends. I wouldn't have expected that.
I will say, that's a oddly "circular" looking earthquake. It almost looks like someone tried to use a island to "plug" another one of those holes in the ocean, like at Lulusia and Enies Lobby. I wonder if that's the idea or not? I could see the World Government trying to literally cover this up.

Pfft...16 raids on Marines bases, 76 sunken Marine ships, 14 ports destroyed, 5 towns wiped out, 3 violations of international law, 25 criminal records erased, and one nation overthrown in two years? I'm pretty sure the Strawhat's beat that in their first six months on the seas! Rocks is slacking!

Harald shaves his head as a "apology" for attacking a Marine ship. I'm sure that's a reference to something, but I"m blanking on what it is, at the moment.
Rocks thinks Garp would also be better off as a pirate. That's a interesting thing to say. Especially since we've action seen that in Romance Dawn version 2.
John Giant...that's a wierd name for a giant. That's like someone being named John Man. It's not impossible, but it's a little weird.
Even Ida is kind of on Rocks' side, at least a bit. Huh. Yeah, that definitely gives Rocks another mark in the "good guy" column. I wonder if she's kind of talking to Rocks, too, though. I mean, he really should have put his crew together differently. They're really at each other's throats all the time. Rocks is really the one who should have been choosing his "friends" more carefully.
...I wonder if the "Rock and a hard place" line was in the original Japanese or if it was something the translator took a bit of liberty with. I'm just not 100% sure that's a phrase in Japanese or not. I do appreciate the pun, though.

So, Shakky...in a APRON! is the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu. Okay, so that's what the World Government steals from Hachinosu that gets the Rocks Crew to go to God Valley. Fair enough. We're going full Helen of Troy with this story, I guess.
I guess Captain John REALLY took a liking to Shakky...in a APRON!. So, wait, is Captain John's Treasure actually just...Shakky...in a APRON! souvenirs?! Buggy...well, he'll probably be disappointed and thrilled, all at the same time. He'll enjoy himself, after he gets over his disappointment. Could a fight for rare merch be what finally splits up Cross Guild?!
“I just can’t open it…” She KNOWS what she’s DOING! How much is she charging for these guys to open her bottles for her? (Wait, was that actually a gag back on Sabaody? It’s been a while since I’ve read that arc. It IS the “ripoff” bar, after all.)
And the Gorosei decide that the only way for Elbaph to gain admittance into the World Government is if they...KILL ROCKS! Hmm...sounds like the name of a pretty good movie. Well, clearly that doesn't happen. But, will Harald TRY, is the question? I'm not sure if Harald will, he's pretty loyal to his "friends". But, we'll see. I think it's more likely that Harald "banishes" Rocks from Elbaph so he can never return, and so Harald isn't tempted by the WG's offer.

If Shakky really is the treasure of Pirate Island that Garp implied was stolen during GV, then this chapter was necessary tbh since we needed to know what that treasure was before heading for GV
The bad thing is the simping, but if Shakky is the treasure, it makes sense(I still hope this to be a red herring from Oda tho). The pacing is not that bad considering at the same time, we see Harald's evolution(becoming bald) and change in resolve between the government and Xebec
I'm assuming he'd reject their offer considering GV happened and even currently Elbaf is still an unaffiliated country, with Harald showing even more conviction in his ideas of wanting giants and humans to cooperate by removing his horns at one point. Most likely even it'd be linked to what happened to Xebec in GV

A woman being "the treasure" ? Its not that I think its unlikely, its that I think its so silly as a plot point.I don't wanna sound like that friend thats too woke but the way Oda writes women is genuinely pathetic.I find it incredibly hard to care about any of the Kuja whose only purpose in the story has been to simp and be simped over by other men.Is there nothing else of value that these characters can add to the story?
I also think Oda went too far with this, but unfortunately it's possible
But I hope its red herring, because an important event like GV that led to the death of a mysterious character that had been lurking in there in the shadows for a while, the father of a potential final villain of the series being linked to simping over Shakky would be terrible writing
