Maybe not fully destroying the clan but it def would've needed a lot of people imprisoned or executed. In the context of a shinobi village where espionage and trust are two key tenants of society, idk how the village could ever not look over its shoulder at the Uchiha, once they considered a coup. Who's to say they wouldn't feel a certain way and join up with the Sand-Sound a few years later?
