I love it when he goes back and repurpouses stuff from way back in a way thay makes sense.
I hate it when it is inevitably refered to as foreshadowing by some fans. Imo it's more impressive for an author to rememeber minor plot points and then find new uses for them then to stick to some mega master plan where everything is le foreshadow (impossible in this ever expanding weekly manga environment anyway)
Sorry for the aimless rant
Nah its all good man I get it. Callbacks are just as good and valid as foreshadowing too.
Oda is not some Aizen of the industry with everything according to his keikaku ofc, he couldn't planned out every little thing in this almost 30+ year series ofc.
I'm glad he's honest about forgetting things and having to rely on the wiki, the community to help.
Him doing things this way in the way you described makes the story feel more organic then, rather than some overly meticulous, rigid, complex web of ideas that can never stray from the path and must adhere strictly to the designated route, the plan only.
Odas messages about what he didn't plan to include, things he didn't expect to happen and his feeling in general are very respectfully and bravely honest. I appreciate him for doing that despite my infinite toxic slander of him lol.
Exactly too, the infinitely expanding manga universe, just like western comics too ofc. Just like the universe is supposed to be endlessly expanding allegedly and thus impossible to measure and predict, to truly comprehend, so is the OP world and story.
Oda still manages to fool and surprise us with blindsiders, "retcons" and such and he's keeping us on his wild good chase, on our toes despite the story feeling more formulaic and predictable though and losing its adventurous, whimsical vibes somewhat.
