The focus on Human Hunts makes me think Kidd's home island also had a Human Hunt.
Before, I thought Gunko WAS Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika, Kidd's dead childhood friend, and that Kidd believed Shanks had killed her, when in reality it was Shamrock.
Gunko was introduced with Shamrock, and we see her connected to Garling on God Valley by CDs talking about who would win the Human Hunt.
If Gunko killed Victoria, Kidd's friend, in a Human Hunt, we suddenly have a very legitimate conflict between the Straw Hats and Kidd Pirates, because of Brook.
Brook clearly knows Gunko, and will want to save her from Imu.
If Gunko helped Shamrock kill Victoria, Kidd will want to kill Gunko.
Gunko could very well be the source of conflict between Kidd and Luffy. @Kizaruber Eats
In this case, Kidd, like Kuma, would have used his Fruit to escape the Human Hunt and survive.
We know from Newgate that rumors of the Human Hunts existed before God Valley, most likely meaning there have been survivors in the past.
In this case, I'd imagine Brook/Gunko's Kingdom got Human Hunted, and Gunko was forced to become a Celestial Dragon's wife.
This would explain why Brook doesn't talk about his home kingdom: it was destroyed by the WG a long time ago.

I've heard a good number of people suggesting Shamrock had involvement like you mentioned.
The part I have trouble with is regarding Shanks. We know Beckman took his arm, and shanks destroyed Kidd, his crew and Ship at Elbaf...I cannot imagine a world where Kidd doesn't attempt to meet Shanks again. Even if Shamrock, was involved with Victoria....that means we have one incident with Shamrock and technically two with Shanks. If Shamrock was truly involved, then absolutely kidd should take revenge on him. But shanks should not be absolved from any wrong doing or ignored.
After shanks used FS + DD +ACOC, he knew kidd was out of the fight...he could have called off the Dorry/Broggy attack, but he did nothing. He knew exactly what he was doing.
If kidd doesn't go after Shanks, his character will be ruined Permanently. Shanks actions at Elbaf are unforgivable.
I think there are 3 scenarios
1) Shamrocks was involved with Victoria's death, something similar to what you mentioned. Kidd decides to go after both Shamrock and Shanks.
2) Shanks was involved with Victoria somehow, Kidd decides to go after Shanks.
3) Neither were involved with Victoria

I've been saying Wano's getting a Human Hunt, and Hiyori's going to be the Shakky.
Zoro is 1000% the Rayleigh in this situation. Is Shamrock... going to fall for Hiyori?

Wano Act 4's going to have at least 3 (Dragon, Kaido, Momo)
Good chance we see Kaido/Dragon eat their Fruits in the same chapter, either this one, or the next.
I imagine Dragon, if he eats a Mythical Zoan, Dragon Fruit (no... it couldn't be...) will use his Flame Clouds to lift up citizens that are getting attacked.
I've thought Linlin/Kaido would save Kuma from Saturn, but, there's a good chance that it's Dragon. I think Plasma/Laser Beams can pierce the Lunarian body as well as the Abyss Regen, and that's why Edison didn't want S-Shark getting hit by Franky's Radical Beam.
There's a chance Dragon using a Boro Breath could seriously mess with Saturn.
