The new fruits look really cool but I’m ngl like half of the devil fruit reveals since the latter chunk of pre timeskip and all of post timeskip make it SUPER obvious what you’re gonna get

Some of them are still random asf like Yamato or Orochi’s fruits (a tangerine and a weird pineapple for 2 mythical zoans lol)

But probably 50-60% of them you’d have to be blind not to see

i used to have the headcanon that maybe the dfs get their specialized design if they're relatively newly spawned.
Like, remember smiley in punk hazard. The apple did not have any indication of it being the axolotl df cause it respawned just then.
But as they stay as a fruit not eaten, they slowly get transformed into the obvious designs that basically tell you what the power is.
And seeing as how Doffy's mera mera was fully transformed, the process takes like a year or two.

But i doubt oda thought about it that much. The special designs are for us readers, to make it obvious to us. And probably to sell merch i guess.
