I couldn’t finish chapter 1, shit was excruciating
I think I made it to like episode 5 of the anime, the animation is nice but the series itself is just bad
Modern Shonen is just horrible, manga as an art form is just cooked tbh. There is nothing worth reading nowadays other than of course Wingdom, the best manga in the history of the medium.

The worst part is Oda actually went back and nerfed characters that had already shown success.
Take Jack: man has a huge, fearsome introduction. We get to Wano, Jack gets insulted by Queen and King for doing NOTHING, then gets used as a hype-tool for Asura Douji, who later dies to... bombs...
And then Jack spends the rest of the arc doing nothing but getting smacked around by Minks in boring fights with no stakes where it was obvious Jack was going to lose
What an actual fucking waste of a character you had already built up to be a fearsome force.
Neko and Inu survived criticism because they had already fought Jack fairly evenly, and both had fun finishers, but the overall Minks vs Beast Pirates plotline turned into such ass in Wano
And then there's poor fucking Sanji

This is why Black Clover is one of my favorite shounen: almost all of the villains have legit hype, and have done/continuously do crazy shit. There's like one character that REALLY got shafted due to the manga's pacing going awry due to Tabata's family's health, and that's about it.
Show us Sommers vs Saul, let us actually see that Saul is strong, but Sommers is much stronger.

We didn't really know anything about Doffy pre time skip, though, which is why I count him as more of a post timeskip character. He only even had one or maybe two good moments pre time skip anyway.
Same reason people seem to consider Law a post timeskip character too
Loki is a lot of fun, imo, I like his backstory, design, personality, his weapon, etc.
I also don't see how Rocks is another Roger, he's far more brash than him and more ambitious as well.

I have never read a comment that left me so happy yet so angry at the same time.
I will say, if Kingdom had an art style more consistent with typical generic series like Bleach or Naruto, it would outsell prime Attack on Titan and prime Demon Slayer at the same time.
