I agree which is why I used the Berserk example as far as manga go. Berserk is more well known despite trash adaptations as well. War manga always have bad adaptations because of how busy/cluttered the scenes are.

Berserk is an anomaly tbh with vinland saga too. They are popular but Kingdoms popularity will skyrocket and be mainstream if it had good anime adaptation. I am talking about AoT level now most people dont know because nobody wants to watch that monstrosity. Thats why it wont be mainstream. They arent gonna do good remake on it.

Berserk at least had 1997 adaptation which is okay. While Kingdom had god awful anime.

Kingdom is great and had peak moments but nothing topples that

Berserk’s best arcs are indeed peak but once you’ve read them the first time, they have zero re-readability. I was once a die hard Berserk defender until Kingdom took my virginity. Now Berserk is only the second best manga ever.

At the time I was reading all 3 series, One Piece was better than Kingdom and Berserk by a bit. Post timeskip and One Piece fell off a cliff.

Kingdom is a better story imo by a hair. Berserk sometimes tries too hard to be edgy for edginess sake. Outside of the golden age arc it's also a bit overrated, Golden Age really carried Berserk's reputation.

Now....having said all that, since manga is a visual medium, Berserk is the better product.

Berserk has rape scenes where not necessary at all, and same thing with excessive gore. Kingdom does a lot less of this for shock value.
