Kaido said he was the top man because conquer the grand line and did it all with haki .
Rocks wanted to conquer the world but fall short and Kaido saw that .
Roger did something that not even rocks did .
If anything Kaido knowing that they got people like Imu \elders etc etc out there and roger was still able to do what did show why he would respect him and how he died.
Along with no one was ever able to beat roger either .

If your argument is that Imu kills rocks and everyone just runs away successfully and no one does anything to Imu afterwards, then fine. It’s not like I can say that’s impossible.

I just think it is MUCH MORE likely that Someone stops Imu from killing everyone on the island after he kills Rocks. I don’t think Oda will resist giving Roger his big win
