S-Mom asked Dragon to take Shanks and Shamrock and have them be raised by someone kind.

Clearly, Dragon heard enough from Garp to realize that Roger isn't really evil, just on the other side of things.

If Dragon gives Shanks to a Marine, or Celestial Dragon, he knows Shanks will end up in Marijoa.

The only people that would take the baby, and not do something crazy, would be pirates, who would just be like "oh... shit, it's a baby."

At this point, Dragon has probably excepted death... but, baby's are kind of goofy, and just do whatever they want.

Luffy "stole" the Fruit Shanks had taken from Cipher Pol/Who's Who:

My crack theory for Dragon's Fruit, is that he didn't even try to eat it himself.

Where-ever Shanks is, people eat Devil Fruits in stupid ways.

Buggy ate his after Shanks scared the shit out of him.

Luffy ate his because Shanks left the chest in front of Luffy, and Luffy was hungry.

Baby Shanks just shoving a Devil Fruit into Dragons' mouth is pretty funny, and fits the level of random bullshit that occurs whenever Shanks is around a Devil Fruit

We know from Volume 4 Billion that the Roger Pirates found Shanks in a chest on the Queen Anne's Revenge post God Valley.

Barring some Kuma teleportation, I believe Dragon snuck onto a Pirate ship, put Shanks in a chest, and then, Shanks plopped the Fruit into Dragon's mouth.

Realizing he had a chance to escape, Dragon flies away as the island becomes completely engulfed in flames, trusting his father's enemy, Roger, who he's heard so many stories about, to raise the child Shanks and Shamrocks' mother gave to him.

I like the idea the Garp was telling stories of Roger to Dragon. Garp must've been secretly a Roger fan, just like Koby to Luffy but to a lesser degree.

Everyone is looking for Shakky. Xebec is looking for his wife and child. Garp is looking for Roger. 🤣

Lol, it's even possible Garp and Roger knew each other before Roger got famous, or even friends like Koby and Luffy.

Lol no way y'all think that Garp was an active father. Given that the dude didn't want to help at GV until hearing about Roger coming, despite his own son being one of the unfortunate Marines stationed there, means that either Garp doesn't pay attention to where his own son is station, or he knows and just doesn't care about his son's safety

Or; Garp see's something in Roger that elevates him as a threat to a degree that seems irrational i.e Smoker and Luffy; I don't understand where people are conjuring this notion of a friendship from, Roger always seems angry and serious when it comes to chasing Roger.
If Garp and Roger had a former friendship or dynamic similarly to Koby and Luffy's, there conversation in Impel Down would be entirely different.

How Garp and Roger met is very interesting to me. Would be hilarious if it was Logue Town.

I can SOOO see Garp yapping to Dragon about Roger, and Dragon going, "Wow, he's really cool for a pirate, you seem to really like him, Dad."

Garp: "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!?! I HATE HIS GUTS!" (Dragon gets punched in the head)

It's like the scene where Judge is dissing Sanji, and Luffy asks why Judge is only saying the good things about Sanji.

Dragon believing Roger's a good dude because of Garp's ranting would be soooooooooooooo funny to me.

Garp had no idea what was truly going on at the island in his defense

I think this was on purpose.

Garp's son ends up on the island the Celestial Dragons are doing a Human Hunt on, and it just happens to be Garp's vacation, too?

Bullshit.

The Celestial Dragons don't leave ANY survivors, IMO: every Marine on this island was doomed to be slaughtered by the God's Knights the moment they showed up.

Dragon was sent to God valley to be erased, to stick it to Garp. He's 40 by now, and joined the Marines when he was 22, then had Dragon when he was 23 the next year.

IMO, Garp was on his way out, but he actually DID end up saving Celestial Dragons without meaning to, and because of this, enough CDs gave him support to allow him to remain. This also explains why Garp can deny the CDs, and still exist in the Marines: some CDs really like him, for his efforts on God Valley.

"Garp and Roger protected Celestial Dragons on God Valley" could easily be "Garp and Roger beat up someone, who was about to kill Celestial Dragons, and, despite not trying to save the CDs at all, got credit for it".

Imu was willing to kill Saturn for a small blunder, it's entirely possible Imu wants to erase anyone who isn't a God's Knight from God Valley, now, to cover up the entire incident.

Well Dragon isn't a baby. It just means Garp trusts Dragon to be independent and figure things out on his own. If anything, Dragon can just call Garp. Did you see you how Garp stormed Hachinosu to get Koby? What more of Dragon? Also, it's not like all Marines are corrupt and evil.

Dragon was 17 years old and a fodder. What if he was unfortunate enough to come across Kaido or Big Mom? He'd get killed instantly

So, for you, would it have been a better solution if Dragon had been a second Helmeppo? Just with a much healthier father–son relationship? Dragon chose the life of a soldier and has to live with the consequences of that choice. Theoretically, Garp could have died at any moment too — and then what? Who would have wiped the little prince’s butt if Garp was gone? Besides, you’re not taking into account the strong independence that characterizes both Garp and Luffy (and we can assume Dragon is similar). Dragon might have deliberately chosen not to tell anyone — neither Garp about his missions nor his unit about who his father was.

@ZenZu Oda’s angels at it again :kobeha:

Garp went on a suicide mission to help Coby, but can’t be bothered to go save his son from being bulldozed by the Rocks Pirates? Either Garp doesn’t care about his son that much, or he’s enough of a retard to think his fodder 17 year old son and a fleet of Marine fodders can hold their own against the Rocks Pirates

I don't even think this is an Oda's angels moment, even though I loathe people who meatride Oda all the time
I think it's a fair point- We don't even know if Garp knew what Dragon was doing, after all he doesn't seem to be the type of dude to actively keep tabs on everyone, but regardless it's not like Dragon was all alone there. There were several other Marines and the Holy Knights.

Yeah because Garp not keeping tabs on where his son’s being stationed is totally something a good father would do
