Did he really try though? I've never understood this complaint. Most people couldn't even tell Kizaru was nerfed, it was pretty subtle tbh until the very end of the arc. Garp during Marineford was a lot more in your face. Heck Oda had to reveal Kizaru fed Luffy in an SBS.

Kizaru has always been a dude doing his job, why are we acting like he was Doflamingo prior to Egghead lol. Like sure he's a complete dick and content with serving the CDs interests, but even the worst of villains are allowed to have feelings for those close to them.

It didn't feel subtle at all with how easily he let himself get tossed around or how often we saw the brief glimpses of his past with Punk, and even Saturn pointed out that Kizaru wasn't performing well. It became apparent Kizaru was very emotionally invested in Vegapunk when we saw him dancing with Punk and the rest in Kuma's flashback, and then with the bawling at the end. If Kizaru, York and CP0 had stayed as the main villains of Egghead, then perhaps his emotional development wouldn't have felt so rushed, but the Gorosei just had to show up to get de-summoned by 800-year old wi-fi rope haki from a dying robot.

I swear Garp and the WG just gets dumbers and dumber. Garp literally knows all of threat atrocities the WG commits and does nothing about it. In fact, he tries to make his grandsons work for them. Then there's the WG who has a guy from the D clan that not only disobey orders 24/7, but willingly attacks the leaders of the WG. They choose to make him a hero and employed for another 40 years lmao.

As said: this all went to shit when Oda made the WG downright demonic.

Before, Garp working in the marine and under a "good" WG with great problems, but overall better for the people, was ok.

Now It's all shit. Him working for them, Alafter having attacked an Elder possesed by an Ancient demon (who was even attacking marines), and they, the WG collectively, doing shit to him afterwards.
