Imu become Obsessed because Dumbass Xebec directly challenged IMu right in the holy lands and saying he's fan of Davy Jones and that he'll be back. This revived centuries trauma and made IMu mad on the entire bloodline as a whole

On a different note Xebec's demon form is super cool. Him almost attacking his crew and almost killing his family and then crying and asking garp and Roger to kill him was sad.

He doesn't need Imu's possession to backstab and attack Luffy who already tired from fighting Cracker for 11 hours

But right now, Garp is clearly working for Marines so why not kill Garp if it's related to Monkey family?

And, not knowing about Roger doesn't add up as well. It's about recognising the strawhat...a bigger version of which is with IMU

imu didn't know Rocks' last name completely
Just like imu didn't know Lili was a D
Luffy's last name might not be Monkey
imu doesn't know everything completely
Likewise, Roger only attacked him from a distance and now he's still far away from imu
We'll definitely see imu's reaction to him at the end of this flashback and when Roger become PK

Xebec by now has fought against multiple marine ships and batallions, multiple holyknights(including garling) and demon army of his family, then has basically fought imu one on one for the longest of times including fighting against domi reversi to the best of his ability, then fought against big mom, kaido and whitebeard, now will fight against roger and garp. Heck before coming to God Valley he also fought against harald. And by the end might again fight imu one last time.

Xebec is built different.
