I had more headaches during Dressrossa with "push the cage", "run around the island to get to Doflamingo 3 times" and "Rebecca crying".

Wano may have had popularity loss but Onigashima wasn't that bad at all. I didn't even look at how many the volumes was sold and and all btw.

Evangelion is the only one I couldn't get into, watched over 15 episodes then dropped it.

Never watched Slam Dunk anime but I did read the manga, easily one of the best sports manga I've read.

eva has cool mechs and alien fights but its mostly a psychological thriller about people being fucked up in the head and treating each other badly

I get that, personally I’m not a fan. And I’m fine with weak minded protagonists who grow and change, I love Simon from Gurren Lagann, but man Shinji I felt just taxing to watch

yeah the movies do that "remake but its secretly a sequel" thing and instead of being a pussy shinji goes koji kabuto mode against the first angel and starts the apocalypse early, then it does a 14 year timeskip and things get really weird

Finishing Gurren Lagann made me realize that I'm not super into mecha anime, doesn't mean I dislike all mecha anime, there are a few I do still like but I'm just not really into that genre.

My only favorite mecha anime would be 86.

That's usually what happens. A bad arc will tank sales for the next arc, a good arc will boost sales for the next arc. IIRC fishman island is when One Piece sales peaked thanks to the summit war, it had very little to do with FI itself. After a good arc, hype goes up. @Bisoromi Bear
