MoistCr1TiKal Calls Mihawk A Fraud In Front Of 20 Million People

#81
There’s a reason why Mihawk is so dunked upon by the general community.
The reason is Shanks and only Shanks. This post I made below outlines this
Interestingly enough, Mihawk would have remained as irrelevant as you suggest if not very many fans having a problem with his mere existence as the “Strongest swordsman”

like imagine if Shanks was a brawler like Garp, and the “legendary duels” between Mihawk and Shanks were the Roger vs Garp clashes of Swords vs Fists. Bascially imagine if you complete removed shanks from this equation completely

mihawk does everything the same as he does now but Shanks is a brawler. Would there exist even 10% the number of Mihawk threads across the entire fandom as exists now?

Mihawk given the same amount of “irrelevance” as you say he does but this time with no relation to Shanks whatsoever. What would happen?

See you problem isn’t with Mihawk or how irrelevant he is. Your problem is that Mihawk is “irrelevant” and yet stronger than your best boy. This is all that matters.

None of this discussion about how well he is written or what he means to the story or any of this “intellectual” discourse would even exist if both for the mere notion that He is the Strongest swordsman and your best boy is also a swordsman
As I argue above here, people would be fine just letting Mihawk play out hus role in the story to be zoro’s final fight, if mihawk’s existence didn’t fuck with Shanks

What I do think should have been expanded upon is the stuff that was established pre Timeskip, the Sword Gradings and the "Two Styles" of Swordmanship
And what would that have to do with Zoro’s goal? Zoro’s goal isn’t to have best graded swords. It’s also not to be the master of “the two styles of swordsmanship”

this is what I mean by you want there to be tournaments and rules and rankings. You want the RANKINGS of sword grades to somehow matter to Zoro’s dream. You want there to be Rules and limits about “sword styles” to matter to Zoro’s dream

you want a scene where Zoro is fighting someone and then they shout “STOP, YOU’RE CHEATING” and then Zoro learns the “true way of the sword” in a fucking death battle and Zoro truly learns the RULES of swordsmanship so that when he fights Mihawk he can show how well he follows the rules and earns the most “swordsmanship points” in the fight with Mihawk for the Judges to declare he is WSS

sorry my guy, Zoro exists in a pirate world or ridiculous magic abilities. Zoro wants to be the greatest swordsman and that fits the world he is in because all these pirates with ridiculous magic abilities also happen to be swordsmen from time to time and Zoro wants to be stronger than them all.

Well, you are right to an extent. Although the general fanbase doesn't care about Shanks vs Mihawk in the slightest, their disappointment is definitely fueled by very popular and loud narratives Shanks fans have propagated for over 15 years. There's still a lot of criticism I have seen from a lot of fans unrelated to Shanks though but I'd be lying if I said Shanks stans didn't play out a role in the Mihawk hate, no matter how valid it may be:kayneshrug:

"I might not know what the One Piece is yet, but I do know what the one truth is, that Mihawk is a fraud. Mihawk clash briefly with Vista in the Marineford arc, it became abundantly clear that this man might not be the World's Greatest Swordsman, maybe he's like King from One Punch Man where everybody perceives him as this unbeatable and dominanable force of nature but in reality, he's just not."

"Ayo why you're laughing Luffy? That's disrespectful as shit."

Notice how you ignore how I mentioned that Pre Timeskip which didn't have any of that had more of a focus on Swordmanship, even if subtle

The only time Swordmanship was focused on after Thriller Bark was in Wano in small Pieces

Is that really enough to satisfy Zoro fans who Claim he's the Second or Third Most Important character after Luffy himself

By “focus” you mean the one mention of the “two swords styles” which didn’t matter. As in it was mentioned and then it didn’t ever matter a single time

The one thing you’ve said about pre time skip swordsmanship that ever actually affected a fight is sword grades. And sword grades only mattered pre time skip because Zoro was weak so the strength of his swords were actually capable of carrying Zoro on their own

Okay. Fine. I’ll admit that. Pre time skip, because of how weak Zoro was, this was a thing that mattered from arc to arc, which sword grade Zoro collected. But see, I think Oda realized how lame it is for Zoro to be carried by Equipment so he pivoted to Haki Transcends all. Even your sword grade doesn’t matter compared to your haki now.

Anyway Zoro isn’t the 2nd or 3rd most important character, Oda stopped writing the strawhats in general as important characters so that’s that. This has no bearing on Mihawk though, even if Zoro is 10th or 20th most important character now, what matters is whether Zoro achieves his goal.

Mihawk importance lies only in whether he can be the person Zoro defeats to be the strongest swordsman. Just because Zoro and Mihawk’s plot line has been overshadowed by Destiny piece and Nika, doesn’t mean it’s a plot line Oda has abandoned and doesn’t know he has to deliver on

“who cares about the opinion of a streamer!”

Are sword copers illiterate or too dumb to realize that this thread isn’t about a streamer’s opinion and instead the fact that agenda piece went mainstream and the first break out moment was Mihawk slander?

I just don't care in general lol
This is the way fandoms are, when Gojo died all I heard about online was about him being a fraud/bum/whatever. Nothing about how the fight went and how exactly he died, no, just that he got split in half.
Even though he's like the strongest character in the verse from what I've heard
Agenda is just like that

swordsmanship in onepiece is fuckin garbage
i fully acknowledge that , but it isnt just swordsmanship which is garbage.

haki in itself is a pretty shitty concept , people love to glaze future sight but we barely ever see it being consistent in the story
same with haoshoku haki .
onepiece's powersystem is just bad - devil fruits arent done any justice too.

also , swordsmanship is still present in the story
its just that schizos dont wanna acknowledge it as swordsmanship as HAO said
But people cant accept that it included haki fruit powers spinning tops legs and much more.
law's KROOM , shamrock's cerebrus , bigmom's misery and roger's shockwaves

all of this is swordsmanship
