I mean reads a tricky. I would recommend just giving them though, because sometimes it seems like a person is lacking in trying to help find scum when they don't work with town to find scum and some people use reads for a lot of different reasons. Your reads don't have to be great especially in early game but giving something to show you are trying and working with town is always good regardless of alignment if you do it right.
Also just so you guys know. From about 7PM central time until I wake up the next morning I likely won't be active in games almost every single night because I take part in a raid in a game almost every night and then directly go to sleep after. The only exception is Friday nights when we don't start until 8:30 and run longer and later than normal.

Reads are fine, but don't give them too often because else scums can find a way to manipulate you if they adjust their play accordingly. Scums can also give reads and seem like they contribute and are progressing their reads. Just did this as scum in a game on another site and barely anyone read me scum because of this. So as Town, be careful when you give them, but as scum, post away. That's how it works for me anyway.
