Jimbo would have said that to any yonko, including Whitebeard. He was showing his resolve against their biggest obstacles. Rayleigh wasn’t a threat, he met him casually. And old people gets more respect because of Oda’s agenda lol. If BM or Kaido had grey hair, just imagine the wank that Oda will give them.

Its so good to see Kuzan among the main contenders. He is definitely the most underrated for the general audience. He is not sabo (ace 2.0), he is not coby (luffy's navy rival), people doesnt hype him as they hype dragon, he is not related to shanks, etc

That's the thing, in casual setting Jinbe was crapping his pants meeting a friendly Rayleigh but you guys are still gatekeeping him out of "yonko level" for an arbitrary reason such as relevance on GV even though his overall portrayal is not lesser than them. (aside from not having build his own empire)

GV is basically the only time we’ll ever get meaningful action from those guys, which is kind of wild considering Oda almost completely ignored Ray and Gaban. Instead, he kept the focus on the yonkos and explicitly stated that they would soon rival peak Whitebeard and Roger.

By overall portrayal, the original yonkos still come out ahead. If we’re talking presentation and author’s intent, child Big Mom was already being hyped as having Fleet Admiral potential lol. These guys were built to be the top rulers out of any organization. It’s probably even linked to the strength of their CoC, higher ambition and all that.

A lot of the Rayleigh and Gaban hype also comes from their old versions. That’s inflated because by Oda’s own admission, he intentionally make old characters appear more badass. Aura also shouldn’t be conflated with actual portrayal. This is One Piece, we should know this by now.

5 yo Big Mom destroyed half a giant village, potential wise you can hardly do better lol.
But it doesn't put her above less freakish top tiers, Luffy was a fodder as a kid and he will end up as a god tier above all these Oden, Kaido, BM, Loki like freaks .
Rayleigh has
-been portrayed as a WB level threat
-made Blackbeard retreat from his reputation
-said to be standing shoulder to shoulder with Roger
Oda wouldn't treat the guy this way if he had him below yonko strenght wise.
