I mean clearly it doesn't bother the Japanese audience that much since he's the 3rd most popular character over there but I do think him placing behind Nami in the worldwide poll shows that internationally it isn't the same

IMO the gag has already been toned down. I don’t think we’ll ever get a bath house scene again (thank god I think even Oda forgot this scene existed) but in Onigashima and egghead he was fine. Him falling for Black Marias trick and asking to be stussys dog were fine too me cause they were in line and lowkey I find the dog thing funny. (Anime version made me laugh too)

In all fairness if you look at the pre timeskip they didn't really get that many "proper" 1v1's either

Like if Pica and Lucci don't count for Zoro then the bar for a proper fight is high enough to also not count a lot of the inconsequential skirmishes PTS

Yea I read this and thought about how Oda Usually has Women Compromise Sanji before he Starts Fighting Fr in the Arc. I definitely expect it to happen somehow in Elbaf. Most likely Gunko will subdue Sanji. But Sanji Fans PLEASE DONT PANIC you’ve been here before don’t act brand new if this happens.I hope people don’t think it’s the end of the world for Sanji when this does happen.
