I'd agree that the Nobara stuff should have been handled better, but that's really the only blemish of that fight. The Merger would have been cool to see, but it couldn't happen because it would obviously be way too powerful to stop. Gege would have to pull the world's biggest asspull to somehow have the Merger be defeated

Which makes it hard for tension to exist because I never have to worry about them

Kurapika has insane death flags on him and prolly won't survive this arc.

I'll believe it when I see it tbh. I can see the Troupe dying but I have a hard time believing Kurapika falls with them as well

The Nitro Rice theory is highly likely imo so it's hard for me to be worried about his safety

Also, you cannot tell me there wasn't any tension for gon and killua back in chimera ant arc when he went ballistic. We only learned of the magic sister after that. If you were following weekly, you didn't know about an ex Machina sister that could reality warp.

I didn't feel any tension in CA because I had no reason to be worried about Gon or Killua. Nothing that Togashi wrote prior to that arc made me feel like he would kill either one of them and I was proven right in the end

Honestly going into the showdown with the Ants Netero was the only one I was 100% sure would die because he has the stereotypical "strong old man in shonen" role that either dies to save or defeat someone. And what do you know that's exactly what happened lol

Predicting it didn't make the moment any less peak but it was pretty easy to tell that most of them would make it out just fine
