Again, Espada cannot be the TobiRoppo/All Stars when the MC had his biggest longest fueds and battles with them. If you were talking about WCI then yes it would be a more apt comparison, by the time Wano rolled around tobi roppo and All Stars were far less relevant by default since they were in the rearview for the MC.

Itachi - Sasuke’s brother and main goal that’s set up since Sasuke’s introduction

Pain - ties to Jiraiya (Naruto’s dead master) and the main antagonist of one of the most important arcs in the series (arguably the best)

Kisame - introduced in part 1 and relevant throughout the first half of Shippuden

The inherent flaw of antagonists introduced later on in the story is the lack of buildup. Why would anyone care about a new random group of antags that Kishimoto introduced for the war?

Overhaul is pretty comparable to the Espada in terms of role, I can see that making sense and being the same case for the Knights of God in a better authors hands.

Not true, Katakuri was Luffy's biggest battle arguably all of post timeskip. Heck he was given more respect than the Captain in that arc. Before that he fought Cracker and was struggling. Again, you could make the comparison if this were WCI we were talking about. It just doesn't work for Wano because Luffy had moved on to bigger things.
