Never said he didn't know them just that Imu isn't who the fandom think he is. So if we go by Gaban knowing the true history and had to be told about Imu existence from Shanks despite that. And thanks to Vegapunk message we know he knows who was the leader of the allied forces against Joyboy faction If we put 2 and 2 together the only logical conclusion is Davey Jones was the leader of the allied faction.
