This is why I'm cheering for Imu right now. If Imu struggles against Loki, this will still be Stall Piece: Adventure of Disney Hat. Why? Because Shanks is stronger than Loki, and Mihawk is not far from that lvl. Teach can take out Shanks only with an attack like Rat, from the back. Which means there's no danger at all. This is why Wano was always a filler for me. Kaido was already stopped by Shanks. If we need a feeling of danger and tension, you need to make Main Villain as someone who is unstoppable, no matter who his enemy is.

it’s most likely that even this form of imu ain’t enough for Loki so he transforms and he’s truly unstoppable so now a tag team is needed again.

He should lose the fight. This is the only thing that can justify summoning a real Imu's body into Elbaf; instead of this, Oda could just use Gunkmu, and that's all. Gunkmu was as strong as the author wanted. So if the author wanted to showcase Luffy vs Imu fight, where Luffy wins it - that is Gunkmu. Oda just needs to not let Gunkmu get defeated. She could summon a book or even use Omen, etc.

Imu won't lose here, but he appears to have some time limit/constraint against being in this form/lower realm. He's not at full power. He will be for the final war though.

Well, or showcase of Oda's incompetence in making a good Villain. I don't need the Sea Devil to appear in the end. I need just one competent villain that will make the story and plot interesting.

This is a good thing to make him much stronger in future fight. But losing is also not an option. For that, Oda could just use Gunkmu.
