Yeah I’m sure buggy is a bigger player than Imu, the head of the WG, the main antagonistic force in the series, the villain who is diametrically opposite to Luffy’s freedom, the villain who has been in power for 800 years and ties to all the lore.
Oda: I've always pictured what the final chapter of ‘ONE PIECE’ would be like, though from time to time, the situation surrounding it changes. It will still be over whenever the One Piece is found in the series, haha. Anyway, this next arc is the final one. - Eiichiro Oda x Gosho Aoyama OVER 100 Miracle Talk, 2022.

So yeah, turns out Buggy is de facto more important than Imu when it comes to finding the One Piece, which is what Oda has said again and again is the series finale. Sorry if it clashes with your headcanon.

Betting against Buggy being important and outlasting Imu is like betting against Mr. Satan in DBZ's Cell saga but you do you lmao.

We know all the powers of the rest of BB’s crew so you had to single out lafitte whereas we don’t even who the majority of HKs are, much less their powers.
That is not true. Imu has 13 covenants according to Harald's flashback, which are currently held by:

- 5 Elders
- Shamrock
- Gunko
- Killingham
- Sommers
- Garling's missing spot when he was promoted to Elder that was offered to Loki
- ???
- ???
- ???

At most, we're missing 3 HKs, so we already know the main faces of the group. And that is without even taking into consideration that Gunko could be freed from the brainwash or that Oda could choose to fill up the ranks with known characters like Lucci, Aramaki or whomever.

Just setting yourself up for failure, it so sad to see. The series does not end as soon as the One Piece is found otherwise there is no point of getting it. The great upheaval comes after it is found.

Yeah, on that note, I'm quite firm in my belief there aren't going to be any fights on Laugh Tale...for the Straw Hats.

First, it's not like when they find the 4th Road Poneglyph, Shanks and Teach's den dens are going to alert them of it. So, for all we know, it could only have the peril of whatever makes Laugh Tale so hard to find as the chief obstacle.

Secondly, Laugh Tale is where the Rio Poneglyph is, and with it, Robin learns the True History. Which surely will be a huge flashback of the Void Century.

So yeah, between sailing there and the flashback, I do feel it will not be an arc where the Straw Hats fight.

It's really amazing how so many people can read a very basic chain of events and still alter the order explicitely stated by the text so that it fits their agendas.

It goes:

Someday one will arise who will challenge the world (government) -> The World Government fears the great war that will come someday -> The whole world gets turned upside down as a result of this war -> Someone will find it (the One Piece)

Oda has said time and time again that the treasure's reveal is when the manga ends. You can cry and cope because that means that Imu won't be Luffy's final battle in order to get it but it won't change the facts.

Hell, you even start the OP talking about Chapter 100's speech. Of the 3 chapters that Oda has titled with each of those key elements, one of them is 1121, which ends with the panel I posted about all the important players in the chase for the treasure, and another chapter, 225 (People's Dreams) is literally centered around this fucking scene:

But yeah sure, Teach is going down before Imu.

Ayyyyyyyy lmao.

Brother, Buggy is not more important than Imu, Sakazuki, Shamrock, Garling, Kuzan and Dragon because of the size of his panel lol...

He's just being grouped with the other pirates, who care more about finding the One Piece.

I don’t think Imu being revealed changes the endgame villain, it actually reinforces why Blackbeard makes more sense. Oda has had the core trajectory of the story planned from the beginning, and the Yonko, especially Blackbeard, have always been positioned as the ultimate obstacles in Luffy’s path to becoming Pirate King. Blackbeard isn’t just another antagonist, he’s Luffy’s direct opposite and narrative rival, built up since before Jaya as the dark reflection of the same dream. On top of that, he isn’t acting randomly, he’s clearly carrying on the will of Rocks (and pushing it further), but doing it in a far more calculated, patient, and manipulative way that consistently puts him in positions to win. There’s no real reason to suddenly doubt his trajectory when everything about his character points toward eventual success, including potentially surpassing the World Government itself and claiming the throne Rocks couldn’t. While Imu is undeniably one of the most important and dangerous figures in the story, representing control over the world and its hidden history, they function more as the embodiment of the system that needs to be broken, not necessarily the final personal obstacle. Blackbeard, on the other hand, is actively moving within that system, taking advantage of chaos, making strategic plays, and positioning himself at the center of the race for the One Piece. We already have significant reveals about Imu, the World Government, and the Void Century, yet Blackbeard and his crew remain full of unanswered questions despite being in the story much longer, which strongly suggests Oda is saving their full reveal for the climax. Even now, Blackbeard’s crew is making moves that will inevitably clash with the World Government, especially with the Revolutionary Army destabilizing Mariejois, which is exactly the kind of chaos Blackbeard thrives in and exploits better than anyone. At its core, One Piece is about the race to the top and the clash of dreams, not just the dismantling of a regime, and that places Blackbeard directly in Luffy’s path as the final and most personal obstacle.

(TLDR, Imu represents the world that needs to fall, Blackbeard is the one built to rise above it and stand as Luffy’s final enemy.)

I am intrigued where the Cross Guild is going. I feel Buggy and Mihawk would resent Blackbeard for killing Shanks, and I feel like Crocodile already does for killing Whitebeard, so I don't really think they'd want to associate with him too much.

I guess I have to say when it's time, they're Team Luffy?

Fatbeard fans are so fucking retarded. When the treasur eis found the war world will be turned upside down. Hence there has to be something that you do with the treasure that makes it important. Even in 1121 Vegapunk days the fate of the world lies with the one who finds the One Piece hence the One Piece it self has importance that over turns the world. If the Final War happens before the OP is found then the one who holds the One Piece doesn’t control the fate of the world. The OP is just a prize at the end of the journey it has no importance in of its self.

Is One Piece a manga about pirates fighting in a race to find the treasure that is the series' namesake? Yes.
Is finding the One Piece the end of the series? Yes.
Is Buggy (and by extension Cross Guild) more important than the Marines, Revolutionaries and WG forces when it comes to finding the One Piece? Yes.

What's so hard to understand about this? Buggy isn't gonna be stronger than any of them, or more impressive, or more talented.

But by simple virtue of the series' endgame being what Oda has said countless time, he's gonna be more important in the long run. Simple as.

"Wah wah wah I'm crying and coping because I can't accept what Oda has said time and time again about One Piece being saved for last".

Ok broski, I'll just wait until this inevitably comes to pass when the time comes and all the Imu wankers suddenly start acting like they were not saying the kind of things you are saying. See you at the curtain call lmao

The Pirate King and his equals roamed the world, but the status quo didn’t change. Even after their time, Imu still rules. Luffy reaching their heights isn’t enough, he must go beyond them, which can only be done by defeating the “world,” as Xebec puts it. Blackbeard will be Luffy’s greatest obstacle to becoming Pirate King, but that isn’t the end of his journey. Teach isn’t the chosen one; we've been told this, he isn’t the one destined to free the world from Imu’s centuries-long yoke.

All things said, Luffy absolutely is going to defeat Imu. That doesn't mean Teach won't wait for them to tire out and make his move, and then finish Imu off, but Luffy is definitely getting a rematch later on, at Mariejois.

Sure buddy, Blackbeard is definitely the guy on the left

I wouldn't really bother arguing with this guy in any good faith as he obviously refuses to listen to anyone, so I'll just post this for everyone else.

Shanks went to Wano because he was worried Teach was going to ambush the winner of Luffy VS Kaido, which shows even in story, people know he's opportunistic and scheming.

So, any idea of a three-way final war between Team Luffy VS Team Imu VS Team Blackbeard is fairly silly, as it is far more likely for him to merely wait until both sides are weakened before he makes his move.
