No black smoke and what have you until he gets slammed in the face by Kuma and sent flying and has to actually regenerate parts of his body.

actually you might be right gerald had infinite regen and schrifts were unique abilities

though interestingly all god knights get regen as a default, am leaning towards it being an ability of his . regen which has its limits as shown with garlic.

Not saying they are right or wrong but Oda has consistently displayed Blackbeard is not about power but that there is no bar to low for him and no tactic too dishonorable if it means he gets what he wants.
This man will camp, he will let others do the fighting, he is the type who will pounce on weakened enemies.

Blackbeard cannot be powerscaled, he is opportunistic and cowardly. If anything, its completely in character for him to do what Garling did to Rocks after Roger and Garp did all the work.
