It really didn't? Luffy pulled out way in front of Zoro and Sanji by the widest margin in the entire series during Wano. Him getting beat down by Top 1 doesnt change that. Zoro and Sanji getting stronger and closing the gap also wouldn't change the fact that at some point it happened, you know?
