I agree with this mostly, barring probably Akainu.

This I'm 50/50 on. I've read your writeups and part of this seems solid but some I'm not 100% sold on.

The Admirals make a lot more sense when you realize Oda is structuring their aspect of OP like his favorite Yakuza movies.

All these Yakuza movies are pretty boring/plot driven for the first 80% of the movie, and then the action breaks out in the last 20%.

The OP manga is the same, it’s why Oda won’t let the Admirals go all out, because he’s saving their full strength for when their stories climax at EOS when they betray the WG.

I really think yall overestimate how loyal the Admirals actually are to the super evil WG. Fujitora is just looking for the first excuse he gets to drop a meteor on the Holy Land, annd Kizaru already betrayed the WG at Egghead, it won’t take much to make him do it again.

Green Bull’s loyalty is non-existent, dude just joined the WG two years ago and openly defied every order he receives, bro will dip out the second the WG’s agenda contradicts his own.

It may be hard for people to see Akainu betraying the WG…until you watch Oda’s Bible Movie: Battles Without Honor and Humanity. I promise you after you watch that movie, you will feel stupid for ever thinking Akainu will stay loyal to the WG in the end lol. For anyone who’s seen that movie, Akainu may as well be named “I will betray the World Government”

The Admirals are the classic enemies-tuned-to-allies trope, it gets really obvious the more Yakuza movies you watch as many of them, especially Oda’s Bible movie, feature these guys betraying the Yakuza. BWHAH begins with Bunta Sugawara joining the Yakuza, as it progresses he rises through the ranks and becomes more and more devoted to them, and at the end of the movie he leaves the Yakuza and shoots up the funeral of his Yakuza grandmaster. This shit ain’t subtle, Akainu will betray the WG.
