Good chapter for Gaban. Imu wasn't in any sort of danger and continued moving back and forth between serious and casual but those axe swings were glorious and he at least drew blood from the strongest character. It's a shame he lost his arm but he's served his role well, being frank with Luffy about what's expected of him and buying him some time. All around pretty good for an old and injured legend.

Luffy's still in G5 after all that, pretty crazy. Hope Gerd's treatment (whatever she could manage) and a short rest were enough for Loki. Imu's still up so someone strong should get back in action.

the problem is that you thought Oda actually gives a toss about scaling in the first place :risisweat:
moreover I think there's a tendency to underestimate the old legends.
Took a Fleet Admiral candidate and a few of the main members of the BB piartes to subdue Old Garp
Ray was able to hold Kizaru back despite not fighting in ages and his pedigree alone was enough to scare of Teach
Now Gaban is outchea flexing on Imu and drawing blood despite being fatally wounded and out of his prime.

Stamina might come into play and maybe they can't move as fast or hit as hard as they use to in their prime but these old geezers all have bloody deep bags and actually know what it means to take on the "world" (Imu and the WG).
Injured old Gaban shouldn't be matching Imu like this though
Imu wasn't meant to be a normal top tier before this chapter. Even someone stronger than Gaban (Loki) couldn't push him past a mid diff
But Oda retconned his strength for the sake of fanservice, and all the Gaban fans fell for it..
