Imu literally wants to flood the entire planet, to kill billions of normal civilians, but people will act like it's not bad writing for Imu to ignore pirates who tried to kill him, steal from his underlings, assault his underlings etc. It's not like he was in a rush to do anything

Imu only learned about Roger's existence after he became the PK. That's how little interest he showed to all the great pirates. He wanted to kill Xebec because he's from the Davy clan - he saw everyone else as ants.

This chapter basically says how Imu ended up underestimating the rest because their strength surprised him, Gaban's strength in that case.

Imu had no reason to care about the other pirates until Roger find the Laugh Tale and started the Pirate Age. He cared about Xebec because Xebec killed an Admiral without taking heavy damage, destroyed the gate of justice and walk through his room and then left saying that he will return.

@soupongo We still have 0 explanation for how Reuven was permakilled in demon form by DR Gunko (who wasn't even strong enough to become a HK yet), even though it was clearly shown in Elbaf that DR victims revert to normal when killed.
