The level of stupidty Oda puts into Zoro is impressive in a way.
We had the famous Seraphim = King scene in Egghead, then we had the "I have CoC?" scene earlier this arc and now, to top it all off here we have confirmation that Mihawk all but point blanc told him "you have CoC mfer". And Zoro is still written as totally clueless.

And now he will unlock a power he used 5 years ago.

No, not unlocking, merely mastering. If you ever saw a movie like Firestarter, basically the same kind of concept. It's subconscious use of a power.

However, the issue is that Zoro basically had to have a magic sword do what Sanji is going to do by himself.

I wouldn't say nerfing. Zoro is always written as strong, even when inconsistent.

It's just funny that we NOW get a Mihawk flashback but not in Wano when he actually used CoC for the first time.

Zoro was always stupid in regular life situations, but he was always battle smart. Now not even that.

Oda's fetish for keeping the Strawhats away from Luffy's oponent is a halmark of One Piece since East Blue. Yeah Zoro and sometimes Sanji will exchange a blow or two with them but ut's not their place to fight the main guy.

P. S. The jury is still out on Sanji imo. The following chapters coukd make or break him but so far he has been the stand out within the crew (character wise). Minus Fishmen Island lol.

I believe the name of the style is what we look at here. At first, it's easy to assume he calls it King of Hell style because that's his version of Rayleigh's Dark King sobriquet, right? But Enma is merely the Japanese name of a Buddhist deity who is basically...the King of Hell.

So, if I may, it's not so much "I unlocked this incredible power" as it's more "This sword makes me really strong".

Which is why Gaban had to scold him. Because it's not that Enma is like Soul Edge.

I feel there's something missing that connects these two lines of dialogue. What is the thing that can remain unchanged? My first thought is Black Blades. And if CoC Haki is pivotal to forging one, it would make sense. Maybe all these mini Mihawk training flashbacks, including the Dressrosa one, are clues that ultimately lead to forging a Kokuto.

So far if Mihawk said about How to make Black Blade permanent and about Zoro left eye in the future.
